Hide any program window by pressing a hot key with Ace Hide

help fix my pc computer problems

It is possible to hide any program windows rapidly. You can define several hot keys to control the window visibility. It is possible to hide/show all windows or one window.

Situation:
You find yourself on your office computer reading something enjoyable, writing a personal letter, or simply surfing the web. All of a sudden your boss walks in and says, "What the hell are you doing?"

You have a few options at this point:
  • You can try to close each program and then continually confirm that you do not need to save the data.
  • You can quickly press the reset key on your computer and then spend a great deal of time trying to restore working programs which were active before the reboot.
  • You can hide your window(s) by pressing a hotkey and, when your boss leaves, you can make the window(s) visible again by pressing the hotkey.
If choice (3) is right for you, then you need AceHide.

Major AceHide feature: you can assign any operation ( Hide program window, Show program window, Hide all program window, Show all program window, Show list of hidden program windows,... ) on tray icon click.
You can assign hot key to this operations: Hide program window, Show program window, Hide all program window, Show all program window, Hide/Show designated window.

WHAT’S THAT NOISE?

One of the problems I see or hear a lot… have to do with the noises a computer makes. The main noise makers inside most computers are the fans, hard drive and CD/DVD player.

No matter how much noise a computer makes, if it’s made the same noises since you’ve had the computer, then you shouldn’t have to worry too much. It’s when the noises sound “different”….that’s the time for concern.

It would be almost impossible (or a VERY LONG email) for me to go over every type of noise that a computer can make. But, let me give a couple of examples and what noises to be concerned about and on the lookout.

The most common (or at least for me) noise problem that I hear about, have to do with the fans inside the computer. Usually, you have the fan on the power supply and a fan on the CPU chip. Sometimes, depending on the computer, you’ll have case fan(s) that help to keep your computer cooled.

Whenever you hear a fan noise problem, it’s best to get it checked out ASAP. If it’s the power supply or the CPU fan, it could cause major problems.

If all of a sudden you hear a very high “whining” sound or a metal scraping sound, turn your computer off immediately and have it checked out. This could be the sound of the hard drive and a sign that it’s bad or going bad. In either case, don’t keep turning it on. If it’s at the early stages of going bad, you data might be savable.

One more type of noise or sounds that your computer can make are various “beeping” sounds. Usually each type of beep has a meaning, however, if you ever hear any beeping sounds (other than the ones it may always make when your turn it on or off)…get it checked out also.

Bottom line, if your computer starts making abnormal noises, it’s best to get them checked out as soon as possible.

TOP 5 IMPORTANT SOFTWARE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR PC

When I started compiling this list, my first concerns were that the software I picked would do the job it was supposed to do and NOT use up all the computer’s resource to work. The added benefit of these recommendations is…all this software is FREE.

Before I give you my list, let me state that I use all the software I’m recommending. I call this list “Important Software”….because it’s for your protection, in one way or another. You’ll understand my meaning as I explain each software.

Here’s my list:

1. Avast Anti-Virus – The number one program that everyone should have on their computer is a good anti-virus program. Too many of the so-called “name-brand” anti-virus programs use up so much of your computer’s resource that your computer runs slow and sluggish. I haven’t had any problems with Avast. It’s a great little program, the Home Edition is free (you do have to get a registration number, but it’s still free) and it works beautifully.

2. Spyware Terminator – The next program that you need is a good anti-spyware program and Spyware Terminator is that program. Once you download and setup this program, you can set it to run a scan daily or weekly if you want (I have mine setup to run a scan daily at 3am) to make sure your computer is safe from spyware. This is another great software (and free).

3. Malwarebytes – I’ve been using this program for about a year and it is wonderful. It is an anti-malware program and if your spyware program miss a bad “malware” (viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, dialers, spyware, etc..) this program will find it. I’ve fixed more computers with this program than any other program that I use…that is how powerful it is.

4. CCleaner – This another program I use when working on a customer’s computer, CCleaner. CCleaner is a system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. You definitively want to get this program.

5. Karen’s Replicator – One more bit of protection that you need is to back up your important files on a regular basis. The program I use is Karen’s Replicator. In my opinion, this is a great little back up software. It’s simple to use and you can set it up to do automatic back ups at specific times.
In my case, I have my program set up to back up my important files every other day at 1am. Then on the alternate days, I have this program set up to back up my Outlook file. This way, all my most important files are backed up.

That’s my main list of the TOP 5 Important Software Recommendations for your PC. However, I have a couple of bonus programs that I thought I would share with you:

BONUS #1 – Easy Cleaner – This is another program similar to CCleaner, however, what I like about this program is its Registry Cleaner. To me it seems to be a little better than CCleaner and that is why I use Easy Cleaner.

BONUS #2 – Process Explorer – This program is not essential, but I sure do like it. It’s a lot like Window’s Task Manager except much better. What I really like about this program is once you open it, a graphic icon is in your task bar. When you’re computer is using too many resources, the graphic is a “motion graph” and if you place your mouse over the icon, it will tell you what program is using up your resources and the percentage it is using. It can be very helpful if you’re computer is running slow or sluggish…it helps to identify the culprit.

Once you’ve installed these programs and use them on a regular basis, you’ll find you have less computer problems than in the past.
